Max Walker just wants to enjoy a nice vacation with his girl, Samus Aran. Work gets in the way though, when a mysterious assailant hijacks his train. Things only get worse when he learns that it is all part of a plot to revive the Prince of Darkness, the King of Evil, Ganondorf Dragmire. The effort against him takes the heroes back in time, and eventually back to the present, for Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Can Link win the tournament and stop Ganon before it's too late?
(Whoa, that's an awesome chapter name... I should make webco-This statement was halted by Rustedsoda from the future.
Max explored the mysterious corridor, a sense of adventure had overcome him. People had mentioned before that nobody goes into the far hallway where the lights go out, and nobody ever returns. "Guess I'll save that for later" he thought to himself. Most of the building's hallways were a plain white, but some had fanciful murals on them, or were plastered with pictures drawn by students. Then there were the inspirational posters with the kittens and the unicorns in space, the kind of thing Lisa Frank would draw while on acid (if the artist wasn't already?)
As Max turned the cafeteria, he noticed that no students were in it. He didn't seem to mind this at first, and bought a soda, typical fare. As he opened it up, he looked around the cafeteria. the overhead hanging lights were on, the tall windows open, light pouring through them... but nobody was seated.
"Am I late?", he asked out loud. "Did everyone already leave?"
This was the point when Max realized something horrible: The school day had only just started!! If he was late to his class, his teacher would fail him, and he would not be graduating high school. "I need to get back, fast!", he thought.
Max ran stumbling back to the hallway, but made another horrific discovery: He had forgotten which class was his! He ran poking his head into different doors, but nobody looked familiar. Mrs. Flanders was teaching a social studies class in the middle of the math hall, but Max didn't seem to mind. At one point he got a bold idea: He'd talk to that girl he liked, but was too afraid to talk to: S... Samus Araaaaaaaannnn~<3
...her class was in the dark hallway nobody goes into (unless apparently they have a class there.) Max hoped he could reach her and still make it to his class, but he'd have to cross that dark hallway first. He didn't care how dangerous the downward sloping hall looked, he was gonna curl up and somersault down that hallway past all the dangers it had.
Rolling like a bowling ball, he suddenly felt as if he'd made a horrible decision, as soon he couldn't see his own hands in front of his face, despite some light coming out of the classroom doors' windows. He ran into someone, their pale, hollow face being the one thing he could see: it was Mr. Stern
"WALKER!! GET OUT OF BED!" he shouted.
Max opened his eyes. It was dark out, and he could hear the steady rhythm of clacks and roaring as wheels and track met. The television was still on, but tuned to a relatively quiet infomercial. Max looked at the time: it was 8 PM. High School and Mr. Stern were long gone, Samus was never a student, and he was safe.... sorta.
"Mr. Walker, please!! We need to speak with you!!" Someone said while banging on the door. For a minute, Max wondered if his line of credit somehow evaporated. He kept the bolt on the door, but opened it a crack to see who was there. The chef, conductor, and attendant he spoke to on the phone were all huddled outside his room in the hallway.
"What's the matter," he asked. "Check bounce?"
"No! no!" the attendant said. "zee credit... she is fine. Moir zan fine! Howezer... erm..."
The chef interrupted. "What he means to say is, we have a slight problem, and well..."
The conductor threw his hands up. "Oh for god sake! Don't mind these fools! Just follow us to coach, I'll explain on the way."
Max unbolted the door and engaged the staff in a conversation as they walked back through the stained wooden hallways with their lush green carpets. It seems someone was causing a problem, and they wanted Max's help in dealing with it. Max obliged, and navigated a few more cozy hallways until he came to the outside balcony. Crossing this, he prepared for trouble in the diner car...
Max observed the scene through the window. He couldn't hear anything now over the roar of the train and the wind, but the diner car at least looked relatively undisturbed... except for one table. Slowly, carefully, Max opened the door and peered inside.
...Bowser was sitting at a table, with his head buried in his arms. There were signs of a disturbance, but the King of the Koopas was totally silent. Everyone around him however was terrified.
"uh, it's okay folks. Just ah... pretend he's not there. Yeah." Max said. "I'll get rid of him..."
"um, actually..." the conductor began, but Bowser finished his statement.
"I'm a paying passenger." His face was still concealed in his arms. His tone was broken, grumpy, and generally upset. He had on some nice clothes too, though now the collar had snapped and soup was spilled on them. Bowser basically looked like he had a really bad day.
"I'll take care of this. Don't call anybody else, I don't think it'll be necessary."
The staff agreed with Max and returned to their duties, thanking him. Once they were gone, Max took a seat next to Bowser, wiping off the soup spot on the chair with a napkin. "Hey, Bowser... ...you don't look so good..."
Half angrily, half in tears, Bowser answered him. "I'm just peachy." Bits of tissue paper were stuck to his face, adhered by what looked like syrup.
"Man, what happened to you??"
Bowser slowly lifted his face out of his arms, staring at Max. It was a rather blank expression, but the eyes were blood red. "I paid for a ticket, that's what."
Max couldn't help but feel sorry for the big guy, but had to prod him with more questions. "Seriously, Bowser what's the deal?"
Bowser suddenly snapped and sweeped all of his food off the table with a crash and stood up, his eyes almost literally on fire. "THAT IS THE DEAL!! I FUCKING PAID FOR A FUCKING TICKET!! THAT'S NOT A GOOD THING!"
Max almost fell out of his chair when Bowser stood up, and he could see that everyone else in the car was huddled into corners or praying to survive the ordeal with their families. "You're scaring everyone..."
"AM I?? AM I REALLY? PROVE IT! PROVE I CAN STILL DO THAT!! PROVE I'M NOT AN INCOMPETANT WASHED UP LOUT!"
Max wisely decided not to tell Bowser that he actually was, and pointed him to a small family of mushroom people, huddled together and awaiting armageddon.
"I-it's okay honey... we'll always have each other... even in the afterlife..."
Bowser watched the family in surprise. "...D-Did I do that?"
Max nodded. "You sure did."
Bowser slowly approached the family, his rage melting away. "I-I'm sorry... I'm just having a bad day, and..."
"He's getting closer!!!"
Bowser stepped back and threw his hands in the air. "No no no!! I'm not gonna hurt you, I just... oh what's the use..." He sat down in front of the family and held his face in his hands. "I'm a monster... I'm... fear me... but don't... fear me... I..."
"Struedel, come back here!!"
Bowser opened his eyes to find a tiny little mushroom girl standing before him, holding a flower. Her shroom cap was pink with white dots, and she had on a little dress and brown eyes. She handed Bowser the flower and smiled.
"You... for me...?"
"mhmm" she said, lips pursed.
Bowser looked at the flower, the symbol of his dying image. People were still fearful of him... mostly. He could salvage that fear now and assume power once again, just like in the glory days... but he didn't want... to hurt... flower... girl... Peach...
Bowser's vision blurred behind tears, and he broke down in front of the girl. "I'm a failure... I'm... please. I'm just gonna... ...help... me... someone..."
Max spoke to the family and the little girl. "I think Bowser's just had a rough day. He won't hurt anybody, not if I watch him..."
Max took Bowser by the arm and led him quietly out of the diner car. "Come on, Bowser. You can share first class with me."
"I... I wanna be a villain..." Bowser said, having cleaned himself up and wearing his normal green shell. "But... but I can't... do... oh hell I can't even eat a kitten anymore!"
Max was startled. "...did you ever?"
A calmed down Bowser sighed. "No... but that's what I felt like. Before Ridley took over, I felt badass. I had Kamek turning people into stone and bricks, and... and I was going on Godzilla on people, and..."
Max pulled out a Nintendo Entertainment System. "Why did you wanna be a villain in the first place?"
Bowser shrugged. "I dunno... I guess cause I was so powerful, and Peach was... oh god, Peach... Peach, you... hmm... Max..."
Max set the system up, plugging a Y-cable into the television. "Yeah?"
"What I'm about to tell you shouldn't leave this room... ...but I don't think I want to capture the Princess anymore."
Max dropped his controller in horror. "..What!?"
"I... she can live in peace. I don't care anymore..."
"no!!! Bowser, if you don't... they'll... it'll be bor... please, reconsider!"
Bowser sighed. "I'm not saying this because I wanna be a good guy... I just want to forget about her."
Max sat there, a Super Mario Bros./Duck Hunt cart in his hand. "Even... Mario?"
Bowser looked at the cart, then at Max. There was an awkward silence, and then Bowser started smiling. Then, a smile became a giggle, and finally a laugh.
Max and Bowser spent the rest of the night playing the game, even though Bowser wasn't very good at it. Max wanted to go easy on Bowser, sometimes by deliberately dying to give Bowser a turn. Bowser felt insulted by this, and at one point almost picked up the NES and threw it out the window... but he changed his mind, and just kept enjoying the game. Eventually, they both passed out before they ever reached the princess at all...
(This chapter is dedicated to the almost celebrity cosplayer, Pikminlink, a person who could probably portray Link if this was live action.)
(Also, Mega Man had its big moment once in this series, in the last book. Starting here, The Legend of Zelda is getting its own. My series' answer to the episode "Quest for the Potion of Power")
Ch. 10: Ever Faithful to the Land of Legend (part 2)
It was true. As soon as she said they needed him... Link had come home.... barely. His sheathed sword was unstrapped and he had been using it as a crutch just to walk. He collapsed when the guards saw him and rushed forward. Beaten, bloodied, and about half dead, he now sat in an infirmary in the tower.
"My god..." Samus said. "...he looks so young... delicate even. It's horrible to imagine what he's been through... Your highness... can you tell?"
Zelda looked sympathetically over the unconscious hero, and brushed through his long tan-gold bangs with her gentle hand. "He was shipwrecked... on an island... yet... at the same time he was stranded at sea... one of these is likely his subconscious, but I cannot tell which. Surely though, the gods brought him to an island, so he could be here today... ...Link..." gently she kissed his hand. Almost in response, the tortured hero opened his eyes and spoke.
"h-hehe.. I made it... ? or is this a dream too..." It was at this moment that Max recognized exactly where he was: Hyrule, circa The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past. Of course!! He'd seen it all from the plane!
"Link?? It's me, Link. You're home... you can rest for now. When you can walk, speak with me. The matter is not entirely urgent... is it?" she said, looking to Max and Samus.
"No, not really."
"Wow.", Mario said, looking at the ancient Link, who had already fallen unconscious again, his hair covering much of his face. "He does look delicate. This guy is... a hero?"
Max nodded. "That's him alright. He may look weak, but he's as tough as you, Mario. Believe me. I know what happened to him."
Zelda looked at Max, alarmed at first, but then intrigued. "You know... a lot about us... don't you? You are no prophet though... perhaps our history is rich where you come from?"
Max nodded. "Something like that. Link here was on his way home when he got caught in a storm... I'd like to say he washed up on the island, but that was part of a traumatic and sad coma. He was really saved by nothing more than floatsam... ...and his own courage.... perhaps he can visit that little island again for a while as he rests..."
The Triforce crest on Link's hand faded as Zelda left the room, no longer resonating with her. For several hours, Link drifted into a gentle sleep...
Steam was pouring from blocks deep beneath LEVEL-5. The place had decayed so much since Link's last visit, that the floor itself was giving way in several places, and other times, magma bored itself up to the surface, almost as if it were aiming for him, trying to open directly beneath his feet and swallow him up.
His memory was not perfect, but he was certain the catacomb which once held the whistle was reached at the far end of the tower. Unfortunately, he was unable to travel far into the tower before finding a pile of debris in his way. Link muttered to himself quietly and pulled out a bomb, kissing it. "Please don't bury me in four stories of tower..."
Link lit the bomb and tossed it at the roadblock. The entire room shook as debris flew everywhere, and the road ahead was opened... ...and something unusual happened: The tower had started rotating, very slowly, downwards, like a screw.
"Uh-oh... guess I better make this quick! Damn, what's keeping the others?"
He arose. Not easily, but he found his footing and left the room. Grabbing his hat, and brushing his bangs out of his face, he walked out of the infirmary and to the throne room.
"Link approaches, your majesty!"
It was something majestic to see Link walk in the way he did. The hero's return, indeed. Although he still seemed so unfit for the job, Max was used to seeing the appearance once in the manual for A Link to the Past. Link was no pussy.
Zelda smiled to her old friend. "Good, you've arrived. Everyone sit, we've much to discuss..."
Link spoke. "Princess Zelda... I found my trip to, despite the time put into it, be nearly fruitless. If I gained any virtue from it, it was that sometimes you must do things that seem horrible. All I've gained is an appreciation for your work... I'm sorry."
Zelda smiled still. "You've come home to me. That means much more. Right now, I... we need your help with a small matter."
Link gulped and nodded. "I live to serve, your highness."
"This is Max Walker and Samus Aran. They, along with their friends, have become stranded in our world. In order to return home, they require the power of both the Mirror of Hera and the Moon Pearl, both items which you found on Death Mountain... do you still have them?"
Link looked shocked. "Um... well, no... I thought I left them here, in the castle basement."
"Here? You are sure? Odd, we have not found it..."
One of the guards quietly approached Zelda. "Your highness, if I may..."
Zelda acknowledged the guard. He had long hair, a firm jaw, and a deep scar over what used to be one of his eyes. With a slight hint of malicious nature, he grinned. "I've seen both of them in the dungeon, and will gladly lead you to them."
Max was taken aback by the man... something wasn't right about him. His first thoughts were of Ganon, but the man definitely was not him... but he had seen the guy somewhere before... ...he almost felt the need to inform Zelda, but was unsure of the situation himself.
"For security reasons, we require one and only one strong escort to come with us and protect her highness from the haphazards of the dungeon. You, sir, with the shell.. would you, please?"
Bowser looked up, a bit surprised. "Me? With your Princess?"
The guard nodded, impatiently. "Yes! You're the strongest one here are you not?"
Bowser shrugged and followed them downstairs, though Link did protest.
"A-are you sure I shouldn't escort her highness? I am more than capable now..."
The guard shook his head. "Link, you should take a little time to head home, say hi to your uncle, and just relax for a bit with your new friends. We'll send for you. It'll be alright."
Link shrugged. "Very well, then. So, do you want to come and see my house?"
Mario, Luigi, and Samus seemed a little more interested than Max, who had really seen it before... or so he thought... His jaw dropped when he saw it in real life. The actual house was two stories, and really quite cozy compared to the one-room representation he saw in the game. When Uncle saw Link come in, he nearly jumped out of his chair before running to hug him. He nearly jumped again when he looked down and saw Mario.
"Mama Mia!! Wherever have you been, getting friends like this?"
Meanwhile, in the castle basement, a solitary guard was leading Bowser and Zelda into the dark depths of Hyrule Castle.
"Guard, how much further must we travel?"
"Not far, not far... just a bit further ahead..."
The trio soon came to the prison cells. The guard explained how they put the artifacts in a chest inside one of the cells for safekeeping. The Guard waited outside the cell for Zelda and Bowser to enter.
"So... this is what'll get us home, huh?", Bowser said. Opening up the old creaky chest, Bowser's expression slowly curved downward. The chest was empty.
"What kind of sick joke is this!? Guard, there's nothing in here!!"
The guard responded, "I know."
Zelda turned around. "Guard, I demand to know the meaning of this!!"
The guard reached into his pocket and pulled out both of the artifacts that were needed. "You're really in no position to be making demands, Princess. With these two items, I was also able to transcend history... and now I'm here... guess what I'm here for..."
"You will be beheaded for this!" Zelda shouted. "What is your name??"
The guard smiled an evil smile. "In good time, Princess... you'll have plenty of it, to learn my name... along with your friend here, my best competition... ahahahahahah!!! I'm so clever I amaze even myself..." And with that, the guard teleported away.
"Great!! Of all the lousy rotten luck!" Bowser bellowed. "Howr we gonna get outta this one?"
Zelda was praying. "I need to contact Link... he'll be able to help."
Back at Uncle's House, the sun was going down. Link had taken a bit of a siesta upstairs, trying to regain all of his energy. Unfortunately, his dreams were shattered when he heard Zelda's voice.
...I am in the dungeon of the castle...
...it's me, Zelda...
...the guard has betrayed and imprisoned me and the turtle...
now, only you and your friends can get us out.
...please... help us, Link..."
Link jumped out of bed, and quickly walked downstairs, grabbing his sword and shield. "We need to go back to the castle. Now."
"Wait up", Uncle spoke. "Link, you don't know what this guy is capable of! He sounds like more than an ordinary man!" Indeed, Link's Uncle could hear Zelda's voice as well. Everyone else just looked confused.
"Whatever he is, I know I can defeat him if I'm just careful. And I don't underestimate him... Like all enemies, he must have a weakness."
Luigi nodded. "From the sound of things though, Bowser can't even defeat him..."
Mario nearly spit out his tea. "Luigi!! What the hell man!? You can hear it too?", to which Luigi quietly nodded.
"Mama always said I was gifted. ;) "
Max finally broke the back and forth banter. "Would someone please explain what's going on?"
Luigi looked to Max. "Link just got a telepathic message from Zelda. Both she and Bowser are being held in a cell somewhere in the castle dungeon. The guard on the other hand is in possession of both the Magic Mirror AND the Moon Pearl, and is now trying to gather the Triforce itself, to give himself supreme power!!"
Link growled. "How... I watched Ganon die..."
Luigi shook his head. "It's not Ganon... I've never seen this guy before, and, frankly, I'm not... well..." falling silent, Luigi simply nodded to Mario.
"Whoa, whoa, Luigi what are you talkin about?? You did so well last time!! Look, you can come with us!! I don't care anymore!" Mario insisted.
"No... I foresee bad things happening if I join you... not this time, brother...
Mario looked down, sadly, feeling guilty. "I... oh, all right. You can stay here..."
Link, Samus, Mario, and Max ventured back to Hyrule Castle, only to find it locked tight. The front gate and all the doors were sealed shut. Heck, even the secret tunnels next to the castle were sealed up. Also, the guards refused to let them in, under "Zelda's orders".
"We need to find another way in... anyone got any ideas?"
Max smiled. "I have an idea..."
Half an hour later, the four were standing inside the cathedral north of the castle. "Okay, now this might not actually work, but I figure something's better than nothing, so everyone face the door, and... ...Link, where are you going?"
Link was pushing on the door in the far back of the cathedral with all his might. "Someone help me move this thing!! Why you guys all over there?"
Max was soon left standing alone. Only he seemed to know about the Chris Houlihan room in Hyrule Castle, and only he seemed to care. Everyone else had assumed they were going to travel through the sewers into Hyrule castle, and frankly, it was a much better idea. Grumbling, Max went over to help Samus, Mario, and Link.
The only thing better than breasts? monkeys and being in a heist. After that,

HI EVERYONE IM LINK I'M ON THE WORLD WIDE WEEEEEEEBBBBBBBBBBBB!!!!!!
ANYWAYS HERES MY STORY CAUSE RUZTY CANT TELL IT RITE HAHAHAHA
OPERATE O JET
CHURCH 13: LINKS AWESOME STOREE
While our hereos were off defeting the evils in another world time placement,
Link was still on the mountain. In the mountain. over the lava. There was a bunch
of mel bay bookletz he didn't rilly care though he just wanted ta beat up dark link.
"I'm gonna kill you" Dark Link said. Dark Link said "I'm gonna kill you so you better
watch out!!" He said. Link said "No I'm gonna kill you" and then he swung his
sword. He scored a hit. Dark link swung his sword, but Link blocked it and swung
his own. Link was clearly the better swordhero. There was a mirror too and ganon
was in it and he was laughing and talking to dark link through it somehow but Link
told Ganon to shut up even though only dark link could hear him.
Link got pissd off at the mirror and hit it with his sword and it crackd. "YOU
ETIOT" dark link said. "You're breaking it" dark link said. "I'm going to kill you hard"
dark link said.
"Well your butt stinks" Link said. except he said something cooler. he and link
hit each other some more and kicked ther butts and I don't remember too much
but I know I killd him.
**well I know im not as talented at rusty at thes things but maybe you like?
anyways I hit dark link before i killed him... no wait I didn't kill him, he completed
some sorta spell and the whole LEVEL-5 started coming down faster. And the
mirror started glowing and Ganon's laughing started getting louder and louder,
then THAT AZZHOL DARK LINK CUT ME
"OW" I said "THAT HURT" I said. "Hahahahahahahaha with your blood I can
bring Ganon out of the dark world!!" he said. Then I gasped. "YOU WERE TRYING
TO GET INTO THE DARK WORLD AND PULL HIM OUT WITH THAT TRAIN SOMEHOW!!"
I said. That's why hijacked the train, you see. He said "yeah but then Ganon said I
had to stay here and get him out." Then he smeared my blood on the mirror. "what
are you doing" I said. "Watch" he said.
The mirror turned red and I don't remember what happened after that I blacked
out, but I heard Ganon laughing really really loud and thought "maybe what if I'm
dead?? Nooo sorry Zelda bye. :("
Well, I wasn't dead. I woke up later on at the foothills of deathmountain and
dark link wasn't around to be seen anywhere. "Are you alright friend??" said a
familiar voice from behind me. "huh"? I said. I thought maybe it was error but it
sound more familiar than error. So I turned around...
...and saw, clad in his ripplign muscles, green spandex, red nose, big old mustache, and cool poses, my CHILD HOOD HERO COME TO LIFE!!! THE MIGHTY
TINGLE!!!!!!!!!! He was so cool, he was all like "Relax Link. you barely got out of
there alive!" and I was like "but where's dark link we have to stop him" and he
was like "nobodys seen dark link since, but I think Ganon got out."
"so what do we do" I said. "We need to find Ganon" he said. and I jumped on
his shoulders and he soared off into the air!!! I wish I could fly.
I'm Link by the way. anyways, Link and Tingle were way up in the air, and Tingle
said "Let me use my super vision.... I don't see Ganon though" he said. "But...
why is that small child all off on its own??" he said. We flew down and it was little
Bowzer, the young son of Bowzer. He said he and his dad were gonna join Max
and Samus and everyone but the plane disapered and he woke up not on it. "Link"
Tingle said. "we need to find that plane" he said.
I nodded, kinda scared cause Ganon was back. I was scared, but Tingle was
there to help me. He told me to never give up, and I can do anything. And we had
to find Bowzer, so we took off with baby bowzer, and I repeated the words to
young bowzer cause he was sad that his dad was gone.
and we were off.
Settings had changed. Samus and Keaton were no longer sitting in supreme
command's office. They had moved to Keaton's private estate, hidden in the
mountains. Here, Samus was in relaxation, and concentration, sipping tea with
quite possibly the most powerful man in the galaxy, known to her simply as
"I see..." Keaton sighed. "And this was the point where the operation to
prevent his return had failed..."
Samus nodded, disappointed as well. "Despite our best efforts... Dark Link
was simply one ahead. Up in the sky, I didn't get any signals, and..."
Keaton interrupted. "...look at it this way: you were dealing with supernatural
powers, and not of the Chozo variety."
Samus sighed. "If only we'd gone with Link."
Keaton comforted Samus. "don't blame yourself for what happened. Just... fill
The old bird was in the air again, and the weather was horrible. lightning
flashed outside the plane, illuminating the insides with small circles. Mario looked
uneasy, Bowser looked worried, Samus uncertain, Max bored, and Luigi upset.
Everyone was tense for one reason or another, as they hoped the plane would be
able to pass through space time again. Meanwhile on the ground, Link and a
hooded Zelda prepared the summoning circle that would launch them through the
abstract fabric once again, taking them home.
"Suppose it doesn't work?" Bowser asked of Max. "I'm not gonna ever see
Junior or Cyndi or any of my kids again!"
"Nah, one way or another we'll get back... I just hope... I just hope... Come
on, let's get buckled!!"
Luigi was shaking like mad. "w-w-w-we'll make it b-b-b-back..."
"Yo Luigi" Mario shouted, "What's the matta with ya? Too cold up hea?"
Luigi got up and moved next to Mario, sitting down. "Brotha... um... part a
bein... you know... dis way... ya start ta pick up on stuff..."
"Hey..." Mario told him. "Spida-sense? Luigi what's it sayin, bro?"
Luigi shook his head. "I dunno... but I got a terrible feelin... like something horrible
has.... or is happening..."
"Attention everyone", Samus yelled through the speaker. "I've just lost
control of the craft. Please remain calm, this is completely normal: Zelda has
achieved magnetic hold. Standby... standby..."
High above the Death Mountain range, Tingle and Link soared through the air.
The origin of Tingle's powers was to this day a mystery, as was much more of the
mustached man in all green. He had no love for Ganon, Ridley, or anyone else
troubling mankind, though.
Link hung from Tingle's neck, kneeling on his back. "Looks like we're comin up
on the Mido bridge... Y'see anyone in those foothills?"
"Tingle is already looking, Master Link", Tingle responded. "With his eagle
vision, no movement shall escape Tingle's sight. Not bird, nor rodent, nor the
darkest of shadows can... ...There's a moving object on that large column of
rock down below..."
Immediately, they sailed down to investigate. The closer and closer they got,
the clearer it was that they were looking at a small child. "Good god, that small
child is all alone! We must find its parents!!"
"Yeah..." Link responded. "Actually... he's kinda familiar... but... nah it's not
him... let's keep going..."
Tingle looked at Link for a moment. "Link, we still must help this child..."
Link stopped walking, and realized he made another dumbass statement.
"oooooooooohhho ooohh... right... >_< uh... so where is the- huh?" Link
was surprised to find that Bowser Jr. was indeed here on the rock spire, talking to
"...and tell Tingle, little one, how did you get here from the beach?"
Junior looked a little embarrassed. "Well... I was tryin to find my papa after I
woke up, but this big bird chased me and all an grabbed me an I tried to make it
let me go, but it put me up on its nest an flew off... So I just walked out n kept goin
"Well then", Tingle responded, "Tingle guesses it's a very lucky thing that bird
wasn't quite hungry yet! However, he must ask how you became seperated from
your father in the first place!"
"Yeah", Link added. "Peach told me you and your dad went with..."
"I dunno, I fall asleep and next thing I know I'm on da beach and my daddy's
gone an... can you help me f-find him?" Junior had been evidently crying before,
and it looked like he was about to start again.
"Worry not, little one", Tingle spoke. "Link and Tingle will help you find your
Link looked the ground and sighed. "I shoulda been the one flying that
plane... I'm sorry Junior... none of this wouldve happened if I'd been there
"Master Link", Tingle reminded him, "You found Dark Link's hideout!"
"...and did what!? Ganon still got loose... It's gonna be a living nightmare
trying to stop him now!"
Tingle nodded, well aware that Link was the only person who was actually
capable of destroying Ganon, returning him to the realm of the dead. However,
keeping him there would require some advanced sorcery... and an old, long lost
relic... The M-NNNNNNNNEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
The sound scared Link so much that he fell on his back, to look up at it. Laying
there for awhile with Junior and Tingle looking over him, he blinked.
"Are you alright, Master Link?"
Link blinked again. "...that was Peach's Jet."
"Well whaddawe waitin for!! Pappa!! Over here!!!"
NORTH CASTLE RUNWAY
Junior was back in Bowser's arms. Link had his arms around Max
(uncomfortably), and Max... reluctantly had his around Link. "Link, this is how Yaoi
gets started." Link didn't seem to care: he was too happy to see everyone safe
and sound. Then, Max noticed the very large green man behind Link. "Uh... what
the- oh god..."
Link smiled and pointed to him. "Oh, this is Tingle!!"
Max stuttered, then mumbled. "Yes. It IS Tingle... here... now..." he sounded
"Hey... somethin wrong?"
Max shook his head. "n-no, don't worry about it... ...did you find Dark Link?"
Link nodded. "Y-yeah, but... Max... he, uh... um.."
"Yeah? Link's what's up?"
Link stuttered. "Um... Dark Link... that is to say... um... the Shadow Link, he..."
"Link would you just spit it out??"
Link began trembling... then pointed a finger behind Max. "L-look out at the
Max turned around, his expression slowly changing from annoyance to sheer
horror... out on the horizon, there was a large black bat in front of the setting sun.
It was enough that it almost looked like an animated batman logo using the red
sun as its background... but the bat was getting closer... bigger... ...and even
though Max had never seen it before, a deep lump in his throat immediately told
him what it was, and what it meant, although he nor anyone else could put it in
words, until it had grown so close that it blocked the sun entirely, and cast
everyone watching into shadow.
...Then it perched, the wings covering the body. Then, those wings slowly
retreated into nothing behind the figure, leaving only a long red cape, behind a
mane of white hair, marked with a matching beard, and the dark skin of the desert,
under an extravagant 1700's Tuxedo. The man was so broad, and so tall, he still
cast everyone on that platform into shadow, even as he raised his arm and
adjusted the cuff of it, the hand of which was as large as Max's head.
"Hello Gentlemen", spoke Ganon.
Keaton sat back, a bit more confused. "Samus you're going off subject again..."
Samus sighed and looked at the floor. "I... I can't concentrate like this!! Sitting on
the floor, closing my eyes... it's not... urgh..."
Keaton backed off "Now now... there's no need to sit like that if you don't
want... would you prefer to lie down?"
Samus nodded, and stretched out on the floor. Again, she closed her eyes.
"Alright... alright... see, the problem here is, most of "Operation J.E.T." is
something I learned from Max... even to me it doesn't make much sense, but...
apparently he was right, because it led straight to several culprits, including Dark
"That... that doesn't make any sense", Keaton said. "You said you were with him
during Operation J.E.T. How could you not have already known?"
"Because, despite what he says, "Operation J.E.T." never actually happened. He
claims it did, but... well... the next part I don't remember either. He says things
happened just a little differently here... and Ganon was involved..."
The sun was beating down on the asphalt as a small object rode up it. Damned
desert... While most of the Mushroom Kingdom was relatively high land, great
inhospitabilities seemed to be off in every distance. Travelers in one direction may
encounter rough terrain and freezing weather in the mountains... others, a vast
ocean connected only by one toll bridge and several smaller ones riddled with
...And then there was the Desert. Inhabited by scarce plantlife, scarce landmarks,
and scarce humans. but insects loved it here... as did the pokeys which would
emerge from swirling, bubbling quicksand. The quicksand was hot. very hot. Not
just from the sun, but from underground as well... in fact, the underground heat is
what rendered the land barren... ...save for this asphalt road... and that small, but
growing object... ...growing... ...growing...
The helmeted biker raced down the road with an old blues beat in his head. As
he raced under the desert sun, face glistening with sweat, his eyes focused on a
large wide building... ...a fortress. A fortress that had evidently not been used in
a long, long time... possibly centuries... there were no visible windows, just black
squares on an off-white surface... it was flat too, at least from here... no, wait...
two floors... three floors... and it was on a hill, so part of it was split level. Could
this be the place?
The bike drove off the road and onto a dirt path to the fortress. Every step
closer gave the biker more and more doubts. When he finally came close enough,
he turned sharply and hit the brakes, facing perpendicular to the structure. Max
Walker, aka Captain N: The Game Master, couldn't believe this was it: the place
looked like an archaeological dig, not a residence!! Still, it was some shelter from
the death rays of the sun, and he stepped inside.
"Hey!! Helloooooo!! Anyone hereeee???" Max's voice echoed into the dark
building. The outside windows had gritty old iron bars over them, and the floor
inside had sand all over. It was cool in here, but abrasive and dark. Max pressed
on down the dim corridor. Eventually he heard a voice from deep within.
"Fibonacci M minus 64... redirect mirror by 5 degrees... desired temperature: 78
degrees Fahrenheit... now all I can do is... eh? Is someone there?"
A Koopa sporting rainbow hair, glasses, and a lab coat emerged from one large
chamber. When he saw Max, he adjusted his glasses, and tried to make out the
person in front of him.
The adult Koopaling waved him inside the chamber. "Yes, yes... that is my
name... ...but how can I help you?"
Max scratched the back of his head. "Um... I'm Max Walker. Captain N?"
Iggy was a little surprised. "Captain N? Here? How odd... the chances of such a
visit are... ...astronomical... in random occurrence anyways..."
Max looked around the cold, stony lab. It sort of looked like a Frankenstein set,
without the monster. "Uh... you live here?"
Iggy shrugged. "Have been for a few years anyways... I've been using this old
fortress to study photosensitivity on certain types of liquified fungus.
Unfortunately, I don't have all the materials to do this with actual mushrooms, but
by exposing ordinary spores to the right conditions, I hope to locate the natural
requirements for creating a "1-up" shroom...
Max nodded. "...and thus determine where they grow..."
"Well," Iggy doubted, "Even then, there could be a number of places... ...and it
isn't actually possible to artificially produce one... only their characteristics..."
Max could tell Iggy really cared about this work. Much like Hylian fables, only a
select few people knew of the secret area where the 1-up Mushroom grows.
However, if one were to find it and eat one of the mushrooms, their body would
permanently age at a much slower rate. The Princess Toadstool possessed the
information of their location, but kept it a highly guarded secret. The only people in
the whole galaxy who actually knew where they grew were also the only ones
alive to have eaten them: Mario, Luigi, Link (at a certain point), Samus, and very
few others. They all took a vow of silence never to reveal where they were.
Max could smell the irony. Bowser had been in his depressive slump for quite
awhile, and when Iggy found out, he wanted to help his father by finding the
green fungus... ...which would make this all the more difficult.
Iggy continued writing notes, seemingly not paying attention. "Mmhm?"
"About your father..."
"Is that so? Well he had to end up in a prison someday... unfortunate yes, but
eventually at his rate... I just wish I could help..."
Max shook his head. "N-no, it's not that. Iggy... ...Iggy your father is
At this point, Iggy stopped writing, and looked up from his work, staring forward
at nothing in particular. "..then I have failed."
Max shook his head again. "Iggy, he did not do this to himself, nor did his body.
He.. ...your father, Morton Bowser Koopa... he was murdered."
Iggy turned to face Max. "...and were you there, when you saw him killed? Did
he tell you "Captain N, talk to my children, please. Tell them I love them"... ?
"W-well, no... ...but-"
"Did he mention any of us, in the least?"
"Well, he didn't say that either..."
"...then I share the same sentiment as my siblings no doubt also gave you,
because he did not love us, he was not proud of any of us... he pretended we did
"Iggy, that's not..."
"I just wanted him to appreciate me for something... ...to say he was proud to
have someone in here that wasn't all muscles and spoiled brat. Clearly, that wasn't
to be... ...please leave."
"Iggy... your youngest brother, Bowser Jr, has also been murdered."
Iggy stared into Max's eyes. "...excuse me?"
Max stared, a little more stern. "Are you familiar with the man named Ganon?"
Iggy smiled. "Ah, yes... I once saw him as a power-hungry terrorist, like the
others... however, the man does bring some interesting points to the table...
...giving us scientists a little more freedom with our work, supplying grants to
Max interrupted. "And killing a toddler."
Iggy's pencil broke in his hands. "Captain, is there a reason you are bothering
me today? Besides the news of my father and brother's deaths?"
Max was getting angry. "Ganon KILLED Bowser and his 6-year old son, Iggy. You
don't have to care, but I would at least appreciate seeing you during the
tournament when his memorial is held..."
Iggy looked at Max, confused. "...Tournament?"
Max nodded. "Yes... Super Smash Bros. Brawl."
Gotta keep running...
no, not that way...
Yeah this way... kinda looks like.. I know I've been here before...
Max gained suspicion that he'd been aboard this ship once before in some video-
game. He knew it: the creatures were all totally new, but he'd been here once
before. Was this all in the Brawl game?
That was a game he'd never bought... Now he'd regret it.
"Okay... I have two grenades left, Snake should be hopelessly lost by now, and
whatever's going on, up leads outside. So up it is." Max scrambled toward a
ladder on the wall, and unlocked a hatch above his head. Barely peeking out of the
floor of the next room, he could see a pair of tickens rolling about. They hadn't
seen him though, and he quickly sprinted out, unworried of what would happen if
he was caught.
Turning the corner left, There was a door and a dead end. Max peeked
through, and saw a rather unusual sight: Mr. Game and Watch...!?? Well... there
were many of Mr. Game and Watch, all operating the ship, as if they had no idea
what was going on... "wait... ship...!?"
"No question, now!" Max whispered to himself. "This is Meta-Knight's
battleship, the Halberd! If those boxes weren't meant for the stadium, then where
are we going?" The answers were somewhere on that bridge, and only the flat
figures inhabited the room. Maybe he could just ask.. ?
Max opened the door, casually, and everyone stopped what they were doing
to semi-face Max, who smiled nervously. "Uh... hi!!" he started. "I'm... hehe, I'm
lost... uh... where exactly are we going, by the way?"
The ringleader looked left with a beep. then right with a beep. In a jerky, two-
frame animation, he pointed to a nearby console with a signature "EEEEK EEEK
EEEK" sound. Max thanked him with a smile, and scoped the scope.
"Heh, you guys have a real bug problem down in storage, you know that?"
said Max as he tried to make friendly banter. "They're smart ones too, hiding in little
sack bodies, and..." Max trailed off, realizing that the room, formerly drowning in
beeps and boops and eeeks, had turned silent.
Max turned around, and the Game-and-Watch men turned red.
"...g-guys? What's up?"
One of the figures produced a bell and shook it in another two-frame animation. "E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E"
Soon, the figure next to him followed suite. "E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E"
Every figure in the room produced a bell and started running back and forth
around the room, frantically, and making a lot of noise with their bells.
Max gulped, knowing that whatever was going on could not be a good thing.
The figures began melding with each other, just as their incessant buzzing melded in with their typical beeping noises. Together, they formed a large red octopus,
which spun around the room like a helicopter, knocking down anything in its path:
and it was headed toward Max!!
The sound of falling machinery and broken glass filled the air as Max frantically
tried to find some space. He soon realized that there was none, and he had
temporarily exhausted his belt's ability to control time on Solid Snake... who could
probably get him out of this... ...no, he doesn't need snake!!
Thinking quickly, Max dived underneath the great octopus and rolled away to
the other side of the room. producing his zapper, Max opened fire on the head, but
his shots did nothing, and merely dissipated the tentacles for a second or two.
"destroy the core."
Max dove beneath the octopus when space on the other side had freed up, this time holding his zapper in both hands. Once the mouth came into view, KABLASH!! KABLASH!! KABLASH!!! No effect. Ordinary shots wouldn't get through
the crimson material forming this beast... but something else might. Max loaded his
wave core in place of the flash beam, and held the trigger down underneath the octopus.
At first, the beast started flashing purple and screaming, and Max thought
he'd won the battle. Unfortunately, the worst of events occurred and the octopus
wrapped Max up in its electrified tendrils - and squeezed Max's finger to the
trigger. He could do nothing but writhe in unimaginable pain as the octopus began
crushing his bones, and his own weapons fried him...
A green laser pierced the window and the sound of shattering glass could be
heard not from said window, but from within the octopus itself. Soon after, it
vomited up some vile red matter, and turned black, shrinking into... a weary and
confused black figure.
Max was a quivering lump on the floor, limbs forming jagged shapes as he
tried to fight the pain, but ultimately had lost control of his body. Mr. Game and
Watch approached him gently, poking him with a 2D stick. Determining that Max
was in serious condition, he started beeping loudly again, and a doctor's outfit
appeared on him. After waving an animation of bottles and bandaids over Max
for several seconds, accompanied by a short little MIDI tune, Max... surprisingly
enough, got up.
Mr. Game and Watch was still completely unsure of what just happened, but
Max smiled and told him not to worry about it. For now, they were more excited to
go out on the deck and meet the pilot who just landed: he saved their lives. Max
tried to open the door but it was stuck, so Mr. Game and Watch produced a
hammer and busted the door wide open. Outside, there was an Arwing and a
"Starfox 3, this is Starfox 1. Objectives A and B completed, engaging in
objective C. Starfox 3, contact Starfox 2 and confirm triangulation of target at
A perky english voice croaked over the communicator. "This is Starfox 3,
Starfox 2 has been informed. Engage in destruction of Starfox 1's target?"
Fox looked up at his rescuees. "Negative" he said, cringing, before turning the
device off, and greeting the other party. "Max Walker?? You, are you Max Walker?"
Max excitedly nodded his head. "uhuh"
Fox grinned and extended a hand. "Fox McCloud. Sorry about back there..."
"Huh? What for?"
Fox smiled and rolled his eyes. "Well not that there's anything wrong with it,
but I couldn't tell if you were in trouble or if you and cardboard here were into
hentai... but hey..." he shrugged, laughing.
"Yeah, yeah... ...hey speaking of cardboard, I wonder what happened to
Fox was confused. "Who?"
Max nodded. "Solid Snake. He's a spy from Earth... no idea what he's doing on
this planet, or how he got here though... but he should still be in the cargo hold...
let's go find him!"
The winged boy dove to Earth on feathery wings. It'd been so long since he'd
been down here, and he was excited to return. The roar of the wind against him
and his wings as he essentially engaged in freefall toward the surface was
"Okay... what am I looking for... ...come on, explosions!! Ganon can't be
THAT subtle!" Unfortunately, Pit found none. He did however notice some
interesting things about the land he was falling toward... ...and saw a few people
he definetely recognized on the ground. "Uh-oh... looks like Dedede's chasing
Kirby. I better give him a hand...
Elsewhere, in another large mechanical setting, a girl was holding her head.
"ooohh... feel like I got hit with the Hyper beam..."
Samus shook her head, and studied her surroundings. All was dark. She knew
she hadn't been in any fights yet, and her quarters in the stadium were more well-
lit than this...
...and what happened to her suit!?
"Ganon", Samus muttered under her breath. She left to search for answers,
unaware of how close at hand he was. When she opened the door, she clung
tightly to walls, in case of any trouble. In any ordinary circumstance, she might not
have been so worried, but this time things were more than different. Ganon was a
very charismatic figure, and was becoming very popular with the masses. Only the
wise chose to avoid him, and only the strong-willed chose to fight him. Such were
the people that now suffered under him rarely, and his followers often.
...and Samus already had an outstanding list of charges against her. To make
matters worse, she had no weapon. She wasn't even sure she could survive long
enough to recover her suit, let alone for help to arrive, but she had no choice.
Samus opened a door and could hear a very light hum from the left. Mechanical.
She went to check it out, and saw several robots on treads, patrolling back and
forth. "ROBs"... she whispered. Mysterious, ancient robots with a high level of
empathy, emotion, and work ethic. ...And probably not friendly under the
circumstances. No wonder this whole area seemed so familiar...
As Samus turned to leave, the door slammed shut, catching the attention of
several robots in the vicinity. "Uh-oh..." Samus muttered, realizing that she'd now
have to run as fast as she could without a suit, because with no weapons against
foes like these... she might as well have been thrown in naked.
"Max... Max I need you!!!"
Meanwhile, the Great Fox was hovering over the floating island...
The primid's head sliced clean off as Link and Yoshi hung in the air for several seconds. -VELP!!-
Yoshi continued ambling forward, and Link was not one to complain. He never
looked back at his work, not even to see how far he'd come. He didn't quite realize
how drastically he had changed, now essentially horseback: Was it something in
the air? Was it the speed? Was it just killing things more often? Something was
happening to Link, something wonderful... perhaps it happened every time he
took up a new adventure. But for once, he wasn't feeling like a miserable failure:
He felt badass.
Once they were in the clear, Link stopped and pulled a pair of binoculars to look
around. There was nobody at the stadium wreckage, but a large floating island did
hang in the distance. He also saw a large ship headed in that direction. That too would be his target.
Link pointed his sword straight at the island. "There!! We need to get there!! I
don't know how Yoshi, but that's where we're going!!" And then, with his sword
held high above his head, he took off, full speed, Yoshiback. "Hang on guys!! I'm
not gonna let you down Anymore!!
"Hey, what do you think you're doing?"
Dedede and Kirby both stopped running. "Ah beg yo pardon?"
The boy with wings looked at Dedede. "Yeah! I just get here, and find you
chasing Kirby! Don't you think this is a bad time for that?"
Dedede looked at Kirby, then at Pit. "Oh!! Oohh, no, you don unnastand! I'm
followin' him to.. uh... Kirby where exactly are ya goin?" Kirby responded by
pointing at a distant mountain, close to the floating island.
"--yeah, see, Kirby's headed to the mountain or summin so he can get to the
island! He does it alla time to get to mah place, I'm sure it'll work here!!"
Pit shook his head. "Stupid penguin, go to him when you need help then act like
it never happened... reminds me of Bowser..."
"You should know, pixie!" Dedede bellowed. "Aint he onna yours now'r
Pit glared. "First of all, we only take noble warriors! Second, he's not dead! But
the plumber IS."
A fourth figure sat silently, watching them all talk as he rode out to join them.
His mouth was hung open.
"Whoa, Mario!? What happened, guy had too much pasta?"
Pit glared angrily. "Ganon killed him."
Dedede blinked for several seconds, before bursting out in laughter. "Oh, yo
had me dere! Evvyone knows Ganon don't kill no more! He's like a bad guy gone
good guy kinda guy! Aint that right, guy?" Said dedede as he turned to the
otherwise unnoticed fourth person. At this point, Link started choking Dedede.
"Retard!! Don't you understand what's happening around you?? That man kills
children!! He's the reason the stadium is gone and you're all laying around like
idiots!!! It's his fault Mario's gone!! It's his fault all those fighters are missing,
maybe dead!!! It's his fault!! His... His... n-not... not mine..."
Pit flew next to Link "Link if you keep that up, yer gonna kill em, and... well, he
might come in handy. Besides, I just got here..."
Link suddenly realized Pit was here, and dropped dedede in surprise. "Pit? Pit? Holy Pit, it is Pit!! What are you doing here?"
Pit frowned. "I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but... uh... I guess you
already heard. Anyway, I've come to replace Mario for the time being... does
anyone know where his brother is?" Kirby continuously pointed at the peak of the
mountain, but nobody paid attention to him. Except Dedede.
"Oh, yeah, Kirby keeps pointing to this floating island over here..."
"Really? That's where I'm headed!! Let's join up!!"
Kirby facepalmed again, and decided to just leave the conversation and head
for the mountain by himself.
"Wait a minute Kirby, maybe Pit can-"
Dedede shoved past Link and started chasing Kirby again. "Kirby!! Wait for
me!! Don't leave me with them, they're scary!!"
Link watched the two of them run off, no words. Pit shook his head. "Idiots.
both of them. I don't think I'd like it on Pop Star..."
"Yeah...", Link finally uttered. "So, ideas for getting up there?"
"I guess if we follow them, we'll simply- wait a minute. Link, is that a
Link smiled. "You like it? Yeah, he kinda found me, I guess. Good thing too
cause I'm not walking across fields and woods anymore, that shit tires me out... oh,
sorry... I shouldn't swear in front of k-"
"-Yes!!! We need to go back to the crater, right away!!"
Link watched Pit run off too, and shrugged, as Yoshi began running with him.
The silent fox slipped through corridors, dashed through enemies, and
deflected shots with his powerful equipment. However, his blaster was not enough
to fight the machines. For that, Max lent his hand. At one point, a large wave of
ROBS swarmed the hallways, but Max fried everything in the room with a Wave
Beam, which, surprisingly, the robots were extremely susceptible to.
"Hmm... it looks like that microwave attack short circuits the ROBs... Don't
suppose you have another gun like that lying around, do you?" Fox asked.
Max shook his head. "Sorry Fox. If I'd known, I'd ask if I could borrow Kevin's...
...wonder what they're up to anyways.."
Heavy boots clomped out of Altim Tower, bloodstained. Around the man's waist
there was a controller belt. In his hand, a red Zapper.
"Thank you very much for all the toys, Lana.." he muttered, bearing a fist with
the Power Glove on one hand and the power pad rolled up on his back. Behind him, Lana was hunched over her throne, blood spewing from her cold, white lips.
Kevin was sat down on the floor in a puddle of his own blood, minus a head. Around them lay several slain guards.
"I wouldn't worry too much, Max." Fox told him. "Kevin can hold down the fort...
or tower... whatever... besides, that zapper of his? It does some really nasty
things to targets before it erases them."
"Erases? What do you mean by-"
Samus could be heard shrieking in pain.
When Fox and Max finally arrived, a large dragon's silhouette could be seen
flying away... ...Samus was bleeding on the floor. "Oh no..." was all that could
leave Max's lips.
Fox surveyed her current condition. "She's been impaled through the
stomach... losing a lot of blood... vital organs have been torn... cybernetic
backups are failing... dammit what were you thinking, not wearing your suit, lady?"
Samus shivered. "s-s-shut up, Fox... I... I tried to get it back... to survive long
Max wanted to hold her head, but Fox advised against it. "The only chance we
have of Samus surviving this is by keeping her still. Max, I know what she means to
you, but if you want to see her again..." Max couldn't pay attention to Fox. His
beloved was dying on the floor, in a pool of her own blood. Looking at Max, she
beckoned them both over.
"N-no... fox, I need a syringe."
Fox looked confused, but didn't argue with Chozo medicine and produced one
from his stimpack. "A-alright, here you go." Samus thanked him, and weakly shoved the needle into her arm, pulling out as much blood as she possibly could,
before giving it back to Fox.
"P-pleas.. giv... give it to.. Max, I lov... I.. I lov.. take.. sor- ..lv...
"Samus!? Samus come on..."
"Samus, you've been through worse!!"
"She had her suit, Max."
"You're not helping, Fox!! Samus!! Samus!!! Samus please... I can't do this
job alone!! I'm not talking about just Ganon!! Without you... ...I... I can't...
Fox moved in to check her vitals. Nothing. the blood stopped pouring, Samus
went cold, and her lungs collapsed. All Fox had to do was look at Max, and it was
already obvious what Fox couldn't tell him.
"B-but Fox..." Max said, tears forming in his eyes, "Samus can't die, she's..."
Fox felt some tears too. "I'm sorry Max. She's gone."
Max angrily shook him. "That's not true!! Who am I supposed to... to... oh
Max broke down right then and there. He was simply too late to reach Samus.
Fox held the broken game master, trying to console him, but this was too much for
him as well. The newspapers only just printed that Mario had died, and now this.
The team's primary source of fire power, and Max's love.
Max's trembling hand turned into a fist. "...fuck it..." he muttered,
holding Samus's syringe.
Fox whimpered and looked him over. "What are you gonna do with it?"
Max stared into the crimson glass, fist shaking uncontrollably. "I think I know... I think I know exactly what
she'd want me to do with it..."
Max brought the needle to his bicep...
